The gambling team at Memery Crystal, in combination with Allen & Overy, has advised Silver Point Capital on the acquisition of the European and African casino businesses of Caesars Entertainment UK.

As a result of this transaction, Silver Point now owns Caesars’ eleven casino properties across the UK, Egypt, and South Africa. This includes the iconic Empire Casino in Leicester Square, the Playboy Casino in Mayfair, and the Sportsman Casino in Marble Arch. Silver Point will provide investment and strategic support to collaboratively develop these properties.

The Memery Crystal team on this transaction was led by renowned gambling law expert Carl Rohsler, and also included Ally Clark and Sylvia Mueller.

Commenting on the deal, Carl Rohsler said: “We are delighted to have advised on this landmark acquisition of multiple high-end casinos. Our work on this time sensitive and complex transaction showcases our gambling sector expertise on one of the sector’s most high-profile deals. With lockdown restrictions in the UK easing, we hope that these iconic properties may soon be fully available to the public.”
