Memery Crystal’s Real Estate Litigation Partner Liam Bell has been featured in Property Week’s article ‘Property industry urges lease shake-up.’
The Law Commission announced it would begin a review of the commercial lease legislation as part of the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities’ new Anti-Social Behaviour Action Plan.
Liam has argued that the current way in which lease renewals operate under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 (LTA) often stifles modernisation and, critically, innovation. In a post-pandemic market where there are more empty properties, there is an urgent need for a more modern and flexible legal framework.
